The temperature gauge achieves through splash oil pretty good Messwerde (the temperature deviates according to manufacturer tests about 10% downward, this one must simply add on top).

The thermometer is simply used in place of the oil plug and is thus very well in the field of view, if you look down briefly.
Important note: An engine should not be fully loaded until the oil temperature reaches about 80 degrees. You'd be surprised how long that can take depending on the outside temperature.
Also, be careful in traffic jams when it's hot. Air-cooled engines need a break when it gets too hot. A quick look down will tell you.

In addition to the practical aspect, the oil knife also looks good. The classic design of the clocks on the cylinder head gives the nineT a cool old school look.
